Review of Sideways (2004) by Rainer K — 06 Nov 2011
Two guys go on a bachelor wine road trip through Santa Barbara County. One is a wine-aficionado and failed writer while the other one just wants to get laid before his wedding. They agree on drinking huge amounts of (mainly red) wine (but no Merlot!).
The result is a film that's even more about wine than about shattered dreams which is in fact an accomplishment for itself. Just a wonderful mix of Comedy and Drama with a script that attributes wine Freudian significance and a great ensemble of actors lead by an amazing Paul Giamatti who slowly but surely evolves to one of my favourites.
