Sideways got a lot of praise and even oscar noms, but as for the film itself, it is just ok. Where it shines is in the performances of Paul Giamatti and Virginia Madsen. As for the story, it is kind of silly and all over the place and I pretty much hate the character of Thomas Haden Church's character, he deserved the broken nose, and possibly a whole lot more.
What sideways mainly does is again confirm to me that Paul Giamatti is an amazing actor, and that even when the story is not that great he can do wonders with it if given the chance.
