Review of Sideways (2004) by Damjan R — 04 Jun 2013
Very watchable and enjoyable but too chatty and not visually interesting enough. Paul Giamatti brings it hard as Miles and gets the bulk of the great scenes in this intimate film about friends and failure, and well wine.
The supporting cast fills in admirably , especially Virginia Madsen who is simply a vision and in the "Love of Wine" scene with Giamatti just demands screen time. There were a couple of problematic scenes when it comes to story progression into "unavoidable" conflict but they don't hurt the film too much.
For a relaxing evening watch, and preferably have yourself a nice glass of wine.
