Review of Sideways (2004) by Seth M — 10 Mar 2014
Alexander Payne's films have an ugly side which rarely works. The scenes where Miles steals money from his mother and the waitress/husband/Jack triangle are disturbing. Not because they aren't real enough, but because Payne asks us to ignore them in our assessment of these two losers.
Stephanie's assault on Jack with her motorcycle helmet actually redeems the film.
