Review of Sidekicks (1992) by D M — 21 Jul 2018
A wimpy dork often daydreams and in doing so has created a fictional friendship with his fantasy pal Chuck Norris. Not liked by his teachers, picked on by his fellow students, and only given pity by his crush, Winnie Cooper (the object of Fred Savage's lust in the Wonder Years is apparently some kinda genius IRL) this boy has no one but his imagination and his equally wimpy father.
When said dweeb's dad decides the geek should learn actual martial arts, he takes him to (always awesome) Joe Piscapo's dojo, but is rejected outright for being total weak sauce. Soon he meets a Magical Asian who teaches him the way of the Orient.
Now, bolstered by his newfound t'ai chi chuan I ching qi gong prowess, he enters a tournament which pits him against Joe Piscapo's School of Ass Kickin'. Lo' and behold, Chuck Norris shows up in order to further aid in this Karate Kid-like finale.
