Review of Side Effects (2013) by Ioana T — 13 Sep 2013
Such a good thriller, I have to say! A very well-made movie that keeps unravelling until the very end, Side Effects manages to capture the viewer's attention and keep them glued to the screen constantly wanting for more.
Despite the simple plot (in my opinion), this film is made in such a way that satisfies the viewer without seeming too obvious. I liked that it's not over-the-top, it does not exaggerate actions, behaviours and situations.
It's not too much, but just enough to make things going until the very end culminating with a big HELL YEAH. It also provides a little insight into the world of pharmaceuticals and how this business works and the kind of money that are at stake, creating a brilliant context for this whole deal.
Therefore, a great thriller, with a number of twists and turns, set in the context of pharmaceuticals and the money that comes from it, plausible, enticing and satisfying... like a gracious dancer executing a beautiful pirouette: simple, yet a delight to watch.
