Review of Side Effects (2013) by Andrew M — 21 Aug 2013
An intelligent thriller from director Steve Soderbergh (also of Traffic, Oceans Eleven). The story unfolds as a man is released from prison for insider trading & returns home to his young wife. All is not as joyful as it seems as she suffers an emotional breakdown shortly afterwards.
So begins her desperate search for treatment, as her life quickly unravels she starts to lose her grip on reality which leads to the death of her husband. A seemingly open & shut case is not so straightforward however as piece by piece the puzzle is revealed.
Complicated, dark, disturbing but very compelling movie.
