Review of Sid and Nancy (1986) by Mack H — 14 Feb 2009
This movie is a downer, but it is the most amazing downer movie I've ever seen. It's the only movie I've left feeling like I was high.
Gary Oldman and Chloe Webb, suitably grating, are sublime. No, the movie is not a documentary. It is a dream. And nothing underscores that more than my two favorite scenes of the entire film--Sid and Nancy's slow motion kiss in the alley with garbage falling around them and their exit from the Thames River boat bust.
Neither scene contained dialogue, just haunting instrumentals by Pray for Rain.
