Review of Sid and Nancy (1986) by Zane T — 16 Jan 2010
This is basically the same scene repeated over and over again. Sid and Nancy do drugs, get drunk, fight, cuss a lot, make up. Even worse, the movie doesn't even have the guts to hypothesize what may have happened to Nancy.
Did Sid stab her? Was it drug dealers? We never know. What we do know is that Courtney Love has a small role that is a blink and miss. The portrayl of Johnny Rotten and the rest of the Sex Pistols is basically negative.
Chloe Webb talks like a woman with a two day old congested nose trying to gargle marbles. It's Gary Oldman who virtually steals the show in this movie. Whether or not his portrayal is accurate or not, Oldman, still a young actor at the time, plays a man who was so out of control, his fate was almost inevitable.
