Review of Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018) by Derek E — 05 Jul 2018

Another incredible movie! Sicario 2 follows a similar theme and style as its predecessor, but this time begins by focusing on the threats posed by Islamic terrorists sneaking through the southern border.

But there's much more to this story as well, as it offers a look at how cartels use power, money and fear to recruit young Americans to help illegal immigrants cross the border, which include much greater threats as terrorists as seek to infiltrate the border along with the migrants.

In fact, there are multiple stories played out -- a troubled young girl, the daughter of a cartel drug lord, gets kidnapped and nearly used as collateral damage, but Alejandro Gillick questions the decision and becomes hellbent on bringing her to safety in America -- where she won't be killed by rival gang members in Mexico.

The incredible story takes us through multiple challenges these men face trying to protect her, and what they must overcome in order to do so. Without giving anything away, I'll just say this is a must see movie if you liked the original Sicario! Very well done.
