Review of Sicario (2015) by Jerome K — 21 Feb 2016
Given the amount of critical praise this movie has gotten, I was a little disappointed in the final product. I suppose I was expecting a more straight forward film. I was immediately hooked into the violent opening sequence, but the plot that developed about the Mexican drug trade was more frustrating than satisfying due to the fact that it's more about accepting a bad situation rather than changing it.
I was hoping Emily Blunt's character wouldn't be so impotent, but I guess she represents an ideal that isn't possible. Nonetheless, while it's not the kind of film I'd watch again, I suppose my sense of unease with it shows the impact a more realistic kind of story like this can have.
