Review of Sicario (2015) by Jeremyp — 16 Oct 2015
The best directed movie of the year, so far. Very intense, taut, and engrossing. Zero Dark Thirty in Juarez. It's more than morally ambiguous, it's Real Politik on steroids. Along for the ride, and used primarily to put a imprimatur of legality on nefarious spec ops is a "do it by the book" FBI agent played by Emily Blunt, whose shock rather than awe attempts to balance out the amoral and illegal methodology of the pragmatic Alpha males.
Her remonstrations do get a little tiresome, and she never seems to get it. Whatever works, do it, and to hell with the book. The score is amazing, Oscar worthy.
