Review of Shutter Island (2010) by Robert G — 24 Oct 2013
First let me say, Shutter Island is more of a thriller than a horror movie. Some People seam to think it is so scary. It is kind of weird but, beyond a few "freaky" images the movie is not scary.
I liked it more than I might admit only because it stars one of my favorite actors and it is directed by my favorite director. But all in all, I was disappointed in the movie. I remember seeing a few errors in the editing of the movie.
I expected more from Scorsese. Nothing unforgivable, but then again it got pushed back so many times that it is not like they didn't have time to catch these errors. The acting is quite good. Ben Kingsley and Mark Ruffalo give a great performance and DiCaprio is amazing as always.
I didn't really have any problems with the story, I had heard that the ending was easily guessable halfway through the movie. I suspected the twist, but only a few minutes before it started to unfold and even then I was not sure.
I expect more from DiCaprio and Scorsese but this is not a bad movie.
