Review of Shutter Island (2010) by Tristan M — 02 Jul 2014
I was a little unsure about this movie, not because it looked bad but because it actually looked scary. But I still watched it because I figured it was something I should see, and to my surprise, was really not scary at all.
There was some creepy moments, but those were not even too bad, and mostly it was the idea of 'Oh no, something bad is going to happen here' but nothing really happened. So that was nice for me since I'm not a scary movie fan, but unfortunately, it was SOO confusing! Like it was almost as confusing as Suckerpunch, (which was terribly confusing) but by the end I figured out it was supposed to be like that.
So before skipping to the ending ill say that the middle portion was confusing, but otherwise interesting and well done. Then for the end, suddenly every thing makes total sense and you reaslise that the movie was actually really good.
The plot holes have all been filled and everything is clear. The constant confusing flashbacks have had their purposes revealed, and the story is really well done and thought up. But at the same time the movie leaves you kinda uncertain on exactly what happens with the main character, but not really in a bad way.
So the movie was actually really good, it's difficult to explain, and unless you watch the movie the whole way through you'll have no idea what's happening. I'd recommend it to anyone, and don't let the trailer deceive you.
