Review of Shutter Island (2010) by Paul S — 06 Jan 2015
I wanted to really like this. I like the story as a premise, but I don't like the way that it played out so much. At some point in a story, I would like to know what I can believe. If I don't know what I can take as real or not, I don't know what to connect to as a story.
This one keeps me not knowing anything all the way to the end. Speaking of the end, I feel unresolved about it. I just don't feel that the story was tied together well in Shutter Island. Casting was for the most part excellent.
Leonardo is always convincing, even when the story is dying Leonard seems to give the role everything he's got. This was barely worth a screening. I felt really bored most of the time. There may be something better that you can watch if we have similar taste in movies.
