Review of Shutter Island (2010) by Jordan D — 11 Aug 2013
My favourites Scorcese movies have not been his mafia affair but rather his forays into the more surreal like 'After hours' or 'Bringing out the dead'. This movie falls into this category.
Here, Scorcese is a master, in every shot, every note of sound, keeping us uncomfortable and claustrophobic. some may argue that the narrative here is unclear or playing with us but I disagree, the narrative is fractured to keep us in the dark where Scorcese wants us so he, not the story, can play us like a violin.
To put it simply, I loved this movie.
