Shutter Island is a masterful suspense thriller unlike no other. What Martin Scorsese has made here is, in my opinion, one of his best films to date. Just when you thought he gave it all in "The Departed", Scorsese somehow manages to top it with this.
Shutter Island benefits from a dark, and eerie atmosphere that is present throughout the film. The movies soundtrack also adds a layer of horror and mystery. Leonardo Dicaprio is just astounding and he really gives it all in this film.
Along with "Inception", this may just be his best performance. Mark Ruffalo and Ben Kingsley were great as well. The plot is so engaging that you feel you are on the island yourself. People have said that the twist in this movie is predictable but I beg to differ.
Shutter Island is a gripping movie that will keep you guessing until the end. Along with "Se7en" and "Memento", this has to be one of my favorite thrillers of all time. Shutter Island shows just how versatile Scorsese is and just how he is able to craft a unique film.
If you are into Thrillers, then definitely give this a shot. Shutter Island wont dissapoint.
