Review of Shutter Island (2010) by Eric M — 21 Aug 2015
A true puzzle for the mind, Scorsese's "Shutter Island" perplexes audiences with its two very different thematic possibilities, depending on how one interprets the events presented. Solid performances from the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio help to sell this frightening tale of insanity and death, and the mood is intriguing yet chilling throughout.
It's a dark, bleak tale any way you slice it, and it may be a bit too dependent on simply blowing your mind by the end, but the story is still an engaging exercise for the mind that unfolds not unlike a classic novel.
