Review of Shutter (2004) by Bastet 0 — 03 Oct 2009
It's hard for me to enjoy horror movies anymore, so I can't say this was awesome. It has a creepy premise and at first I was expecting it to be like "I know what you did last summer." It turned out not to be (from the beginning point I thought it would) but did end up that way from a later revealed point. It is a different spin on a tried and true horror base- vengeful ghost seeking justice against those who wronged them. As the story unfolds, you realize some characters aren't the people you thought they were and really, only one character was redeemable. Even the ghost herself was an unbalanced mess in real life so it's not that she deserved the way things happened, but you're left thinking "wow, this was a really effed up bunch of people.".
If you know someone easily scared/creeped out, this could be a good recommendation to them. Has very little gore (one scene involving blood and teeth) but it mostly relies on the creepy psychological factor than anything else.
