Review of Shrooms (2007) by Lou Seifer — 09 Jun 2008
Wanted to see thsi when it came out at the pictures- only just got round to seeing it on DVD.
Not the best horror film I've ever seen but certainly not the worst. Its got a real Blair Witch meets silent hill feel to it. Even the mysterious hooded ghost baddie could be the lovechild of pyramid head from Silent and Samara from Ring.
The basic story is bunch of young uns go to the woods to try magic mushrooms. They all get told a ghost story that ends up with them all being stalked by this hooded mok type guy. One of them eats a special type of mushroom that allows her to see into the future. Therefore every now and again you get a "trip" into the future to see glipmpses of what will happen and what has happened.
Its a pretty enjoyable romp. Not mega gory but keeps your interest. I kept trying to second guess the ending and was pleasantly surprised and shocked.
Worth a look!
