Review of Shrooms (2007) by David E — 30 Dec 2008
Not a terrible horror flick by any means. I actually think the story is decent. As opposed to some who say this movie blows because the story is garbage, or the movie is stupid because none of this shit happens when you're doing mushrooms, I think those aspects are fine.
The main problem I have is all the shock cuts. That cliche needs to stay put in the Saw series, because it annoys me. That, and it could've been a lot scarier, especially if it had long, quiet shots and creepy-what's that in the corner?-imagery. The shock cuts detract so much.
The characters are quite entertaining as well. It's a typical horror movie bunch of teenagers/college students that are for the most part retarded, but it's pretty damn funny. Necessary comic relief. Bluto is hilarious.
