Review of Shrek the Third (2007) by Jacob — 06 Jan 2014
Growing up causes you to see things in a whole knew light. As a kid I really enjoyed this movie but now that I am older the problems with it are pretty apparent. I don’t hate but is just sort of eh. I’ve grow to appreciate the first two Shrek films now that I am older.
They had great heart, humor, and likeable characters. This movie kind of does. Some of the jokes are funny and the chararacters and story do have some charm but Shrek feels kind of stale here. The characters are not as interesting, the humor is not as good, and the adult appeal is gone.
This may be an average kid’s movie but that is a shame considering how good the first two were. If you are a die-hard Shrek fan and/or a little kid (especially if you are both) you will probably really enjoy the movie.
Otherwise, you can afford to sit this one out. While this is not a terrible movie the Shrek franchise has seen better days and it is sad to see Dreamwork’s most beloved franchise at this level of eh.
