Review of Shrek the Third (2007) by Andy M — 28 Nov 2012
After King Harold (John Cleese) dies, Shrek (once again, Mike Myers) is the next in line to be king of Far Far Away, but Shrek doesn't want to be. So, along with Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas) and Donkey (once again, Eddie Murphy) must head off to find the rightful heir to the throne. Also, Shrek's wife, Princess Fiona (once again, Cameron Diaz) is pregnant and Shrek isn't so sure about being a father. So, Shrek isn't so sure if he is going to be having a happily ever after.
It's a disappointing entry into the SHREK franchise, the humour has really died down. Of course, after SHREK2, I was expecting a 3rd, and I was actually hoping it would be good. I think that the reason it's not like the first two is because the director has changed. This one is directed by Chris Miller, not Andrew Adamson. The music isn't as good either, and I loved the music from the first two. The score is just re-used and the put in the wrong places. It's typical of Dreamworks to do a movie like this.
What can I say that hasn't been said? SHREK THE THIRD is missing he humour, magic and the charm that SHREK and SHREK2 had, making it quite disappointing.
