Review of Shrek the Musical (2013) by Dalton D — 08 Sep 2016
Absolutely superb! Shrek The Musical transcends the way we view broadway at home. Fiona's symbolism as the accolade in this variation of the Shrek Tale is what really stood out the most to me. Whilst the film had its upbringings, there were downfalls.
Donkey, played by Kevin James, was portrayed as the main antagonist throughout the flick. This partition from the original script gave the story line a more diluted feel. I think I speak for all Shrekians when I say that, we as fans, are displeased by this disaffiliation from the normal Shrek Multiverse.
This setback aside, Lord Farquads (played by character actress margaret martindale) did an absolutely substantial job! My kids had a swamp of a time watching her walk on her knees to exemplify a short person.
To conclude, I was skeptical about this play. Casting Robert De Niro as Shrek made me a bit apprehensive at first. But after sitting through the entire running time of 18 hour and 46 minutes, I realized this film would soon be recognized as a cult classic.
