Review of Shrek Forever After (2010) by Thomas S — 16 Nov 2011
Remember when DreamWorks Animation was giving Disney a run for it's money and making fun of Disney for being fatcat sellouts. Well what happened? Like they say when you battle monsters you become one yourself.
Which leads us to the new and very unnecessary Shrek. Why does every Shrek sequal just makes me miss the 1st one? None of them has been able to capture the magic and laughs that the 1st one did. And my theory is.
... lack of John Lithgow. The story is just like any other one of the sequals. Shrek's life is going great but he misses being a lonely swamp monster chasing off everybody and wants to be miserable.
So magical curse sweeps through changing that and "Hey wait a minute the grass is now greener back where I was" Why hasn't he learned this yet. And why is Cameron Diaz still attractive as an animated ogre? But in the end this is better then 3.
They should just sweep that one under a rug and replace it with this and call it a triology and stop fucking with it. The laughs are few and far between and unmemorable. The story line like I said is the same as all the other ones.
The animation is great and beautiful but is really just up to what the standards are of today with a twist of nothing speical. My opinion... in the end just stick with the 1st one and leave it at that.
