Review of Shrek (2001) by Grant W — 19 Apr 2018
For their fifth major film release, Dreamworks successfully (and hilariously) parodies the fairy tale genre in "Shrek" with brilliant comedic timing/editing mixed with appropriate musical scores/sound effects and with extremely memorable and well-casted characters who all have their own quotes that many viewers will remember long after the film is over.
However, it is not a perfect film because it does suffer from the same clichés as the stories it makes fun of and at times the jokes are dated to the early 2000's, but with a (literally) beautiful moral that is lovingly told in between the silly farce; you have a film that stands a chance at being a pop culture gem for a long time.
