Impossible to hate and easy to love, the first entry into the "Shrek" franchise still shows none of the issues that would plague later entries into the series, being one of the most memorable animated films for an entire generation (and it would take that title outright if those pesky geezers over at Pixar didn't keep churning out classics!).
With superb voice acting from Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz and John Lithgow, and a brilliant story that subverts the traditional Disney fairytale in a lighthearted manner, everything is brilliant in this quintessential DreamWorks effort.
