De Niro is one of the greats and blends tough guy and comedian brilliantly. Murphy is almost back on top form here. It’s really the hackneyed concept of the buddy cop movie that makes this a little tiresome, but never actually bad.
Russo plays a TV exec who uses the two for a series, bringing it a twist, but in the wake of The Truman Show and Ed TV, it isn’t fresh enough. Good in most respects, just not great.
