Review of Showgirls (1995) by Charlie M — 26 Jun 2016
"Showgirls" is the definitive so-bad-it's-good movie. There is so much wrong with this movie that it's honestly hilarious: bad acting (even from well-known names), unintentionally funny dialogue, a story with absolutely zero originality, and the perhaps the most un-sexy and over-the-top sex scenes/nudity I've ever seen on film.
Elizabeth Berkley, fresh off her "Saved by the Bell" fame, is at times not awful and other times just downright silly. Her excuse for a sex scene is writhing around on Kyle MacLachlan into oblivion.
Easily her worst, and funniest, work here. I'm not saying that you shouldn't see "Showgirls". In fact, I suggest you do, especially if you're all for classically campy sex romps.
