Review of Showdown in Little Tokyo (1991) by Aaron A — 07 Jul 2007
"Showdown in Little Tokyo," Synopsis: Dolph Lundgren, a veteran of the Van Damme school of acting, delivers his finest performance yet as Sgt. Chris Kenner, an American cop who is orphaned in Okinawa when his military parents are killed by Yakuza boss Yoshida. He grows up and finds that his parents' killer, played by Hiroyuki Tagawa (Mortal Combat), now has stakes in America, where he is trying to muscle out competing beer distributors and crime syndicates to sell his new brew, which is mixed with drugs! Lundgren teams up with Brandon Lee (The Crow) to deliver a crushing blow to Japanese mobsters on American turf. See Lundgren speak horrible japanese while prancing around in a hachimaki (the headband with the rising sun on it) a la Ralph Macchio, play ninja while wearing a full kimono, and take out bad guys with high powered rifles using the most ridiculous and cumbersome bladed weapons as projectiles. Lots of shooting, explosions, samurai swords, and Tia Carrere (Soft Porn) getting naked are a recipe for success in this non-stop action thriller!
Best Lines>>>.
Sgt. Chris Kenner (Lundgren): If you seen anyone coming, shoot them.
Minako (Carrere): What if its you?
Sgt. Kenner: You won't see me coming.
Johnny Murata (Lee): We're going to nail this guy. And when we get done, we're going to go eat fish off those naked chicks!
Yoshida (Tagawa): You are dead!
Kenner: Hell sucked! We are back!
After sex...
Minako: [Laughing].
Sgt. Kenner: What?
Minako: That time I heard you coming!
Goofs>>>.
In the shootout where Dolph Lundgren jumps over the car you can very clearly see the springboard used to propel him over the car.
