Review of Showdown in Little Tokyo (1991) by Braden A — 01 Aug 2004
OK this is like...take the worst van Damme movie you have ever seen, replace him with Dolph Lundgren (who is infinitely worse, IMO), add mediocre action scenes and INCREDIBLY excessive nudity, fill it with racism and give Brandon Lee a terrible role that leaves you thinking "God, you were so much better than this".
If Lee had called Lundgren "Champ" one more time I would have kicked the screen.
And why, oh why did they CONSTANTLY have to make Brandon Lee do signature Bruce Lee stuff? Sure, he's his dad...but why couldn't they let him have his own career?
I don't know...I just felt almost insulted by the role they put Brandon Lee in. I could almost hear the embarassment in his voice when he said stuff dissing Asian culture and stuff. And when he made the dick comment...that was it...I was royally pissed off and genuinely insulted.
