Although Shot Caller remains a mostly engaging albeit familiar prison drama featuring a solid performance by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, this film's main issues are its overly slow pace and confusing plot.
Nonetheless, it still shows the unfortunate reality that prison life can break a family and leave inmates vulnerable to negative influence.
