Review of Shortcut to Happiness (2007) by Letícia "Saoki" L — 12 Jan 2009
Although this is one of those stories everyone has already read, watched and heard a handfull of times, it doesn't matter.
The reason this movie is good isn't the story, which is really just a justification for the happenings in it, but the sheer amount of good performance and good dialogue. Say what you want, this movie doesn't skips a beat.
Some people argue that it is the same movie as "Bedazzled", only not funny, these people should be reminded that movies aren't all funny ones, and that contracts with the devil are a plot as old as time. Different movies, different approach. This one is good as it is, and it's a drama.
And hats off to Sir Hopkin's monologue at the end of the movie.
