Review of Shortcut to Happiness (2007) by Waziri A — 22 Jan 2013
I'm going to try not to hold it against him too much, but this film was made because Alec Baldwin directed. This means the cast he was able to bring is fantastic. Sadly, his directing is worse than most amateur filmmakers. The script is simple and without anything special or original to say. It's easy to mistake it as an ego trip for Baldwin, but I don't think it is. The film just isn't good enough to warrant the talents of anyone involved. It's also sad to see Baldwin's directing as uninspired as it is. But while it looks incredibly cheap, it's still a movie that mostly works. And good to see a collection of so many fun character actors in one place.
Before seeing: Holy crap, this movie sounds awesome!
