Review of Shortbus (2006) by Gilmar G — 30 Jun 2009
Blurring the line between pornography and standard film-making, Mitchellâ??s 2006 film auditioned through video tapes to brings a group of actors together to conduct an experiment on the social acceptance of sexuality in film.
With an open mind, one may find the interweaving storylines interesting and un-offensive despite the blatant acts of sex, its presence graphically overshadowing in parts but acceptable some of the time.
A subjective sense of collective individuality emerges as a relatively diverse cast deal with their separate problems, each relating to relations of the group. Not for the conservative mind and not for the easily offended, or even moderately offended, a film whose presence and content may be warranted for some and never acceptable for others.
