I can go either way with movies in which the characters wear their hearts on their sleeves as a rule of thumb. It works with Shortbus because the emotional honesty is matched with sexual honesty, specifically explicit unsimulated sex scenes.

Each character puts themselves out there in every way, so while you do experience a wide range of the funny, sad, uncomfortable, sexy, silly, and cruel moments in relationships, there aren't really any satisfying conclusions.

But the journey's sweet enough to recommend it.
