Review of Short Term 12 (2013) by Cole J — 02 Feb 2014

Short Term 12 is a story for everyone. It contains a message for anyone who is or knows someone who has been mistreated, neglected, abused, or misunderstood. Rather than lingering on the whys of the characters' situations, it addresses the solution, and we see that answers will not always lead to the solution, and may be nonexistent.

The acting is great not only from Brie Larson, who breaks through as a major talent in a performance that is genuine and sweet, but in John Gallagher Jr, who plays her boyfriend, and Keith Stanfield, who plays Marcus. I can't go without mentioning how emotionally effecting it is, with moments that will either make you cry or drive you pretty close. I only hope that more people will see it.
