This is a true gem. It brims with realism, shows you why it is so important to care for everyone, including our youth; and features refreshingly natural performances from Brie Larson, Kaitlyn Dever, and John Gallagher Jr.
among others. What 'Short Term 12' does so well is that it really does hit home with its emotions and there is a good chance many viewers will feel them. Grace (Larson) works at a shelter for troubled kids.
She shows her tenacity and toughness by never giving up on the kids even though she has problems of her own. She forms an especially powerful bond with Jayden (Dever), a girl who mirrors a lot of her own troubles.
Powerful, intimate, and triumphant are great words that could be used to describe 'Short Term 12.' Definitely one that should not slip through your cracks.
