Review of Short Cuts (1993) by Benjamin P — 08 Jun 2007
Rarely does a film capture the subtle despair inherent in modern North American fiction; skeptic, meet "Short Cuts." From Tom Waits crying for eggs with a broke yolk in Lily Tomlin's miserable diner, to Julianne Moore's naked-from-the-waist-down monologue about THAT NIGHT, this film sparsely shreds both the emotions and the identities of these hard-luck characters.
A masterwork.
