Review of Short Cuts (1993) by Hugh J — 07 Feb 2008
Altman again proves himself as the master of the ensemble film. Between his direction, Geraldine Peroni's incredible editing and Mark Isham's score they have created the perfect balance between individual stories and the one greater story.
There isn't one inferior plot line and each one feels like a complete film on its own. The cast is incredible too, with the standouts being Bruce Davison, Chris Penn and Lily Tomlin. It's hard to believe the running time, as it never fails to be exciting or entertaining whilst containing intelligence and great emotion.
Incredible.
