Review of Short Cuts (1993) by Brian R — 20 Dec 2009
Robert Altman Short Cuts reminds me of Nashville except that this film doesn't take place in Nashville and it's not about people trying to make it big in the Gospel Country music industry. I feel that Short Cuts is about people's everyday lives who also have different professions.
Some have life good, some tragic, and some funny. Altman is a master at telling interconnected stories and he uses a very big cast. My favourite character in the film is Jennifer Jason Leigh as a phone sex operator trying to earn a living while at the same time fixing her kids diapers.
Funny.
