Review of Short Cuts (1993) by Maxwell S — 16 May 2012
Magnolia is my favorite film and I knew that Robert Altman was an influence on him before I even saw Magnolia, I also had already seen Nashville, too. Then I picked the Criterion version of this about 2 weeks ago and watched it immediately.
Absolutely loved it. It was obvious of the extreme influence this had on Magnolia, but Magnolia still remains my favorite film. If I were to be a critic, I would consider Short Cuts better than Magnolia, too.
