Review of Short Circuit 2 (1988) by Keith M — 26 Jul 2010
Number Five returns in this very funny sequel to the hit comedy. Fisher Stevens is a hoot as his pal Ben (reprising his role from the original film, as well). Cynthia Gibb is adorable as Ben's love interest.
Michael McKean is very funny as the con man with a heart of gold who befriends #5 and Ben. Some good lines, funny moments, melodramatic moments, and a little action makes for a fun time, that I liked even better than the first film.
I usually enjoy going back to watch movies I loved from my childhood, whether they're bad or good. Thankfully this one is still fun. My only criticism (besides the un-stellar acting and dialogue) is that Johnny Five was a bit too flamboyant too early in the film.
It may have been more believable if it grew as the film went on. Still, good times.
