Review of Short Circuit 2 (1988) by Rohan G — 20 Aug 2008
I found this movie to actually age a bit better than the first.
That's not to say that it doesn't have its faults though.
As this film tries to pass as an American city (I don't recall them saying which one), when it was filmed in Canada.
Also, there are some huge inconsistencies with the main plot as well as some unanswered questions regarding the "super happy" ending that's presented.
Watch the first film, as well as this one to better understand what I mean.
Even though this film is definitely a great one for the kids, I did find that it might be a little bit disturbing to some when they see "certain" semi brutal moments later on.
But still, I found that this movie works just a bit more than the first, simply because it explores so much more with the concept of J-5's sense of humanity, as well as the character Ben's inadequacies as a foreigner.
Which I'd say are much more deeper subjects for a film that's main audience seems to be for children.
Overall, another great family film that seems to be heading towards the remake realm in Hollywood.
