Review of Shooter (2009) by Marti G — 20 Jul 2012
I liked this film. But of course it's rare for me to be uncomfortable with a Mark Wahlberg film. His competence as an actor and his watchability pretty much suck me in every time. Add to that the small but surprising roles for Danny Glover and Ned Beatty and, for a scene, I thought Sam Shepard (but couldn't find his name in the credits), it was a well cast film from the director of Training Day, for which Denzel Washington won one of his Oscars.
While I'm not prone to violent films at all, this film was surprisingly bloodless like old Westerns, even though plenty of bodies fell. And I thought overall that it made an interesting political point.
