I am not surprised at all that in Shooter the main role was played by Mark Wahlberg. The actor is created for such roles in typical B-class films. A regular linear plot. A movie that doesn't claim anything you'll forget the next day.
Shooter is watched for action and the viewer gets it and here he is good. And there is no need for more.
