Review of Shoot 'Em Up (2007) by Greg S — 10 May 2013

As a basis for comparison (my gift to you), compare this movie to the sad, rehashed drivel that has become of Jason Statham.

Ever wonder why you can't remember which movie he did that involved a particular action scene? It's because they are all the same.

This, is definitely not an ordinary movie. And I don't think it was created to be. In the time of Grindhouse cinema being revitalized, what we have here is a healthy nod to the over-exaggeration of violence. That and the type of cheese we saw in many of the 80s movies......back when we were not quite as critical as we are now.

So why 3 stars when it sounds as if I'm oozing over the movie? It's not box-office gold mind you, but its fast enough and cheeky enough to keep your attention, and I like that!
