Review of Sholay (1975) by Jitendra P — 26 May 2009
As a kid I only remembered the song "yeh dosti" and I loved it. Years later when I watched it I was in love with the movie and Amitabh . Still cry when Jay dies at the end. Have seen it enough times to remember most of the dialogues of the movie.
Call my own car DHANNO sometimes. lol. Every character of the film is a classic now. As soon as u mention Sholay the first thing that comes to mind is GABBAR SINGH and the legendary performance by Amjad Khan.
He was ferocious and no villain would've been hated so much like the great Gabbar Singh. You can't match the intensity with which Mr Khan portrayed that one and only villainous character that defined the way a villain should be in the indian film industry.
I'm hoping that this movie is in some acting school as a subject to discuss each and every character on it and if not should be added in their syllabus as acting students can learn alot from it. Ramesh Sippy is the Michael Mann of India .
I sometimes play the songs of this classic and my kids love the song Mehbooba O Mehbooba.
