Review of Shocker (1989) by Colin Z — 08 Jun 2008
Wes Craven strained mightily to recapture the success of his 'Elm Street' series, but ultimately there was little about the concept of a wise-cracking (yawn) undead serial killer who uses electricity to dispatch his victims (double yawn) to suggest a new diamond in the rough.
The humor is clumsy, the kills are unmemorable, and an atmosphere of creative desperation hangs over the entire loony affair. Horace Pinker, the titular maniac, just ain't no Freddy Krueger.
