Review of Shock and Awe (2017) by Jesse D — 12 Jul 2018
As someone who was active duty during 2001, has a master's degree in screenwriting, and truly loves movies for their own sake, I can sincerely say this film offers a structurally sound narrative balanced with enough entertainment value to avoid being didactic while addressing an issue that any American would find more than uncomfortable, and that would easily have failed if not for its veteran cast and established director.
Negative reviews of this film will be considerably more the knee-jerk response to the challenging subject matter than to any actual shortcoming of the film itself. -Jesse D.
